Breaking Bad Habits

With Mehrnaz Davidson

Are you finding it hard to keep up with the demands of daily life? It could be that old habits are holding you back or getting in the way.  Many of us develop ways of coping when we are young.  Sometimes these kept us safe or helped us survive.  They had an important function.  Then over time, as we become adults, these strategies may no longer work for us.

It’s hard to notice these habitual ways we deal with everyday things.  That’s because they just happen – we’re not deciding that this is what we want to do or how we want to respond to someone.  Sometimes they show up as impulses or reactions that have become very familiar to us. We might laugh when we are uncomfortable, blame someone when something goes wrong, or try to please someone we don’t even like.  You might even wonder, Why do I do that?

As adults, these old ways of responding that we learned from our childhood, can interfere with our relationships. They can lead us to feelings of imbalance, confusion, frustration and even emotional stress. Over time, this can leave us feeling lost, unmotivated or overwhelmed.

As a counsellor, I believe in the power of understanding and embracing all the parts of us.  I want you to feel in control and balanced as you discover who you truly are. Breaking away from old habits may be easier than you think. My client-centred approach is tailored to your unique needs. Together, we can explore those old ways of coping and help you rediscover your strengths and potential to lead a more fulfilling and balanced life. Let’s explore this journey together and unlock the life you deserve.
