Jessalyn Law, completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP)
My name is Jessalyn and I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) with Yorkville University. I have worked as a Registered Nurse for the past nine years in a variety of settings, including remote northern nursing, emergency nursing, corrections, and currently in the realm of mental health and substance use.
I believe in taking a person-centered approach because you are the expert of your life. I collaborate with individuals to build a tolerance for difficult and uncomfortable emotions, process traumatic experiences, and build a more secure sense of self. I strive to help people to explore what pain teaches us, what carries us through hard experiences, and how we make meaning of what happens to us.
I am passionate about destigmatizing mental health with an anti-oppressive, existential, and person-centred approach. I provide LGBTQIA2S+, poly, and kink affirming counselling, and I welcome people from all types of relationship structures. I am committed to a life-long process of unlearning to decolonize traditional counselling.
