Emily Maxwell: Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology Student, BA Education, Registered Social Worker, Professional Student Member of CCPA
Hi, I’m Emily. The experience of soul-seeking and wanting change in life is a common human experience. Sometimes this can mean we need support from someone else.
We live in a world where connection has become less frequent or has less depth, and we may feel alone in our struggles. In my experience, we may struggle to find out why we are the way we are. I am here to support you in finding your way, whatever that looks like.
I believe in supporting people where they are at and believing in the ability of humans to grow and change through adversity. My goal as a counsellor is to help you find healing through self-discovery and build healthy coping skills.
I am here to work together to create goals that will address your concerns or make changes that will help you live the life you want to live.
I have worked with numerous populations, and currently am happy to work with pre-teens, teens, young adults, adults, and older adults who experience a variety of concerns. This includes a background in mental health and addictions, eating disorders, and codependency.
I work from a strengths-based lens to help relieve stress, shame, guilt, grief, anxiety, depression and burnout.
I offer a refuge for anyone who desires change by using an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed lens. I will walk beside you and support you in finding healing by exploring Schema Therapy, Somatic or body-based nervous system healing, restorative attachment therapy, Family Systems or intergenerational patterns, and Emotion-focused therapy.
