Congrats on taking the first step of seeking a counsellor! I appreciate how vulnerable and intimidating this process can be. I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey!
I have been working in the mental health field for over 10 years and believe that healing happens when we take time to connect with ourselves, each other, our communities, and the land.
I think of myself as having one foot grounded in evidence-based (scientifically proven) approaches to therapy and the academia that I was deeply trained in, while my other foot is in the world of other and older ways of knowing, including mythology, ancestral tales, the wisdom of our body and nature, and more.
I might be a good fit for you if you want a therapist who:
● weaves together scientifically proven approaches with intuitive and mystical wisdom
● balances being professional with being a real, down-to-earth human
● focuses on both emotional processing and practical skill-building
● is gentle approachable, and direct when appropriate
● is committed to continuously growing their skills and knowledge
● can hold your deepest, most shameful and vulnerable truths
I’m passionate about mental health in general, nature connection, environmental activism and decolonization. I have had the privilege of learning from many mentors, including: Sharon Blackie, Dr. Clarissa-Pinkola Estes, Natalie Small, Elisa Spring, Dr. Jennifer Mullan, Adrienne Maree Brown, Jon Young and the 8 shields lineage, Thriving Roots, Coast Salish and Nuu-chah-nulth elders, local activists and more.
Together we might learn how to:
● slow down
● listen to your body
● learn what you need and how to communicate your needs
● practice mindfulness
● understand your dreams, desires and your capacity
● grow your self-awareness and compassion
● process stuck emotions
● build practical coping skills such as regulating your nervous system
● connect with nature
● create a life that feels more nourishing and authentic to you
When I’m not working, I’m surfing, kayaking, going to yoga, meditating, gardening, or spending time with loved ones. I’m also an avid traveller with an endless desire to explore new places, and I have been to over 30 countries.
The easiest way to find out more is to schedule a free 30-minute consultation to see if we are a good fit.
Clients: I offer virtual counselling to individuals aged 13+. I am licensed to practice in both BC and Ontario.
Some of the areas I work with include: I’m experienced in working with people who are being challenged by depression, anxiety, navigating relationships, trauma, feeling like they are constantly not at ease/in survival mode, grief, trying to find a more authentic way of being or alternative lifestyle, work stress, and more. I’m particularly passionate about empowering people to learn about the effects of trauma so they can better regulate their nervous systems and start feeling better. I also support people in strengthening their connection to nature. I’ve also realized that I deeply enjoy working with people who are in transitions of all types, whether it is to a new phase of life, wanting to step into a new job or role, elderhood, etc!
