Anger Management training usually includes a combination of different approaches that build off one another. This might start with a deepening of participants’ awareness of how emotions, especially those that can cause us problems in living, like anger, rage, or anxiety, all operate at the physiological level based on established research. Following this, there is an exploration of the ways we can navigate these physiological realities. This might feature applied techniques for reducing the intensity of emotions in the moment, improving communication to prevent their development and to repair interpersonal ruptures when they do occur, or how to harness the motivating aspects of these emotions for genuinely positive results. The idea is not to stifle or cut out our emotions, but to move into a place where we are in control of them rather than vice versa. This can be achieved through an increased knowledge base and the mastery of skills that allow us to better channel our natural responses to the difficult circumstances that inevitably occur in life. – Kyle
