Parminder Kaur, Masters in Counselling Psychology
My name is Parminder and I worked as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) for the last nine years. While working with patients, I realized that a stable mental and emotional state is the key to an individual’s overall well-being. After years of service as an MLT, I became interested in the counselling profession to aid individuals who suffer from mental health issues. I was born and brought up in India and now resides in 150 Mile House, BC, with my spouse and teenage son. Besides English, I am fluent in speaking Hindi and Punjabi, which I hope would provide counselling opportunities for individuals from these communities.
I am excited to begin my practicum for the Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology at Seahorse because this would provide the opportunity to learn from other counsellors and train in various counselling modalities. My approach with clients involves collaboration and listening to their issues empathically, genuinely, and without judgment. I am looking forward to providing counselling services to individuals, couples, children over 12 years old, and families at Seahorse and hope to help anyone who suffers from mental health challenges in their lives.
