Altered books are a creative way to turn an existing book into a personal art piece. Pages can be painted, drawn on, collaged, folded, torn, or layered to express feelings, ideas, or stories. Using an altered book can feel less intimidating than starting with a blank page. The structure of the book offers support while still allowing freedom and choice. There’s no right or wrong way to make one—each altered book is unique to the person creating it!
